Members learn by speaking to members and guests. We work together, in a supportive environment, to improve our networking, speaking, impromptu speaking, leadership, and listening skills. Each short and snappy meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice daily skills of life — communicating, leadership, networking, and listening. WOW! All in one place, at one time, in one meeting!
- Conducting Meetings – Members learn how to plan and conduct meetings. We share leadership roles throughout the meeting.
- Giving impromptu speeches – Members present one to two minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics.
- Presenting prepared speeches – Three members present speeches based on projects from manuals in Toastmasters’ proven communication and/or leadership program. Projects cover topics such as speech organization, vocal variety, language, gestures and persuasion
- Offering constructive evaluation – Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement. Evaluators practice listening skills. At every other meeting, we give round-robin evaluations for each speaker so that we all can sharpen our listening skills and giving valuable feedback in a constructive and useful manner.
